The 39th Scout Border Hike at Gradbach

    The Border Hike is organised by Gradbach Scout Camp, based on the western edge of the Peak District National Park, nestled in the upper reaches of the Dane Valley on the borders of Derbyshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire.     The Kinder Extreme is approximately 30km and the Kinder Challenge is around 16km. The Extreme is aimed at older Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Guides and members of Scout Network. It is a challenge of map reading and stamina in this exciting and rugged area of the Peak District. &nbsp Peak camps have run since 1974, and have been held every 5 years since 1980. The camps have been held in the grounds of Chatsworth House and are organised as a joint venture by Derbyshire Scouts and Girlguiding Derbyshire. The most recent event, Peak 2015, attracted over 4,500 young people from across Derbyshire, the UK and other countries. Alongside these young people were their leaders and over 1,500 staff.
